Has there ever been a time when you were interviewed for a job and you feel like you nailed it, but after a few days, your recruiter will tell you that you didn’t get the job?

It happened to me this week, not once but twice and it was so frustrating. I feel like I’m not good, smart, able enough to get a job. I know that my main strength is hope, but man, this is a true test of hope.

I used to be a job hopper. When I want to move, I’ll move and probably the reason why it is so painful is that this is the first time that I am at the mercy of employers. It’s the first time that I feel like I don’t have control over my career and we humans love to be in control, and if we aren’t, we get crazy.

My experience this week was so frustrating that I forgot my motto when searching for a job, and it has something to do with destiny. If the job is for you, it is for you. No matter what you do, no matter how you prepare, if it’s for you, it’s for you. I have switched jobs a couple of times and this motto of mine has never failed me and as I think deeper about it, it is still true even with my current situation, meaning that I haven’t applied yet for a job that is for me.

What’s my point? There will be situations that we really can’t control. The more we try to control something, the more it slips away. It is true for love, it is true for our relationships, it is true for our careers and it is true for all other things in our lives. Although there are a lot of things that we can’t control, there will always be one that we can. Ourselves. It’s how we make sense of our situation. It’s how we interpret it and it’s how we believe our interpretations.

If we think we failed, then we failed, but if we think that tomorrow’s another day and tomorrow you’ll have a chance to try again and be better, then the seed of hope will bloom and it will guide you through the most difficult moments of your life.

We try to live our lives in duality, good or bad, positive or negative, weak or strong, but the truth is, there are countless possibilities and results. So the next time, you get rejected from a job you are applying for, be sad, but don’t be miserable and tell yourself, if it is for me, then it is for me and that I am yet to apply for the job that is specifically created for me.
